My band played a show the other night & we got a recording from the guy at the soundboard. The level's aren't that bad, and even though some mistakes abound... it's not a bad recording. My band is Ernie and the Berts. We're a three-piece, Ernie is bass/lead vocals, I'm one of the Berts on guitar/backing vocals, and the other Bert is the drummer.
We generally get a decent reception, but we're not quite a "draw" yet to anyone other than family & friends. We're sort of a punk band. We have a very punk ethic, but it's all just rock n' roll. It's poppy, but it's certainly not pop-punk. I call it sleazy muppet rock. I have a very sloppy playing style.
As far as the rig from this show for the gear-heads, I used my Dewey Decibel FlipOut guitar (outfitted with GFS Lil Killer Black Rail pickups) through an Egnater Tweaker 15w head & a Mesa/Boogie half-back cabinet.
I'd appreciate any praise, ire, constructive criticism, etc. to our stuff or my playing. (I'm a very sloppy punk rock player, don't do many fills, trills, solos, or thrills.) Do you get it? Do you like it? Do you hate it?
"Toybox" is our "hit".
Here's an "album" that we're not currently releasing to the public...

I get it. I can hear quite a bit of Dead Milkmen, and some Ramones and the Canuck band Real McKenzies (that no one has heard of, but y'all would probably like). Oh, and Mister T Experience. That sorta thing. I like how the better singer is doing the backing vox. I don't say this to knock the lead singer, the same is true in my band (in which I'm the lead singer). I don't really have any suggestions, this sort of thing is rather a niche, you just have to keep on keepin on and get as tight as you can. The line (sorry I listened a couple hours ago so I can't quote verbatim) about I wanna get to know you in a biblical way was much appreciated, not to mention the refrain of "Bring me the head of Fred Rogers" (if in fact I heard it right & am remembering it right). Cheers!
