Bio

  • About Me: Been playing for a little over 30 years in various club bands. My first original Band was a band called Pony Express which was a cross between Zeppelin/Southern Rock. I still write and record. I guess the most recognizable thing I've done this far, is playing guitar for Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush from 2000 to 2004 and the did a tour and DVD shoot last year. I am always looking for a new challenge or band, so feel free to hit me up if your looking,... Peace Mick

  • Nick Arrietta Has anybody tried the Ernie Ball Titanium or Cobalt strings? Just had my Fender Strat setup today by my friend and master tech and saw these strings on the shelf so i picked a pack up. Il throw them on in a few days when i kill the strings i just put on. If anybody needs a guitar set up and is in the Montrose CA area Grayson's Tunetown has one of the best techs ever. I can give you his info just shoot me a message or tweet me. Cheers..

  • Robert Mathews I really don't worry so much about me or tend to pitch tantrums if I happen to ding my own stuff. Those things happen! It's the thoughtlessness of others that concerns and annoys me. I've gotten too old to beat on people who touch my stuff (Although earlier in my life  . .  ) and it's somewhat uncomfortable wearing a shoulder holster while I play!
  • James Walsh Watching Sharon & Ozzy talk about Randy in the Featured Video I quite like Randys Acoustic GTR Playing, in some ways it's better than the metal electric stuff. It allows Ozzy to really express himself more in subtle ways.

  • Jim Marlow Man, I am so &*&^^$$%& depressed  right now. I've got my guitars out,  and all I can do is sit and look at them. My doc took more xrays of my shoulder last week and it's not just my rotator cuff, I am bone on bone, which means a whole shoulder replacement. I don't know what happened the other day, but when I got home from Lubbock seeing the doc, I layed down and took a nap and when I awoke, it was just like it was when  I first injured iit. I can't move it at all again all the way down to my fingers. And I was just in the process f getting back into a band again. Talk about some shitty luck........

Good question. I haven't heard to much of the classical guitarist in quite sometime. Thats a big part of joining SMG, was this way I would hear about different guitarist in different genres, that most of my guitar friends don't talk about, or know much about,... Peace Mick

Hey Mike, Thanks for the feedback. See I have pretty much always used stand alone pedals, I guess I am just trying to make this gig as compact and painless as possible, and I figured all in one would work. Also, ease of use would be something I should look into as well, didn't really think of that aspect. Thanks again,... Peace Mick

Hey Spike, Thank You for your reply. I was wondering about the Boss GT series or the Korg 1500 series. Or maybe another suggestion I haven't thought about for research purposes. Thanks,... Peace Mick

in the topic Multi-effects unit Help in the forum Welcome! Read This First!!

    Hey All,

I am currently getting ready to play in a Top 40 setup with some people and the music is something I have never really dealt with (I have always be more of a rock guy than top 40), so I find myself playing everything from Heart and Metallica to Shikira and Rhianna. I figured I would keep it simple, by going with a 1x12 combo and a multi-effects unit. I have always used pedals (Carl Martin, Boss, Dunlop ect...), but with this material I need multiple sounds from clean, funk, country, rock, to heavy. If you had to buy a multi-effects unit, which one would it be and why? Thanks and I look forward to reading your responses,....

    Peace

    Mick
