  • GARY SKOPICK It took some searching, but I finally found the bottom cab for my Marshall. It's a 1960HWB, which is part of the hand-wired series, so I will now have a whole stack. Then we can get back to some more recording! Marshall is now doing their own distribution, and their warehouse must be in a state of chaos. Good luck if you need anything right away.  Mine arrives tomorrow. Should sound sweet!

  • Zophar Sifuentes February is a slow month, (only 8 gigs this month), so this is a great time to work on my chops and develop new ideas. Have my Fender amp and Strat by me and practice every chance I get.  Several bands I played with last year have disbanded and I've been doing open jams and passing my cards out trying to get more work. One band I just hooked up with is officially releasing their 1st cd tomorrow, but their music has been on stations around the country for several weeks.  Maybe I can tour with them this summer. Another band a couple of guys are still in high school and I'm thrilled at the idea of passing my expertise to the next generation.
  • Patrick Vega Hi all!   Do you know why all this social media stuff ain't really working for artists?   Cause it's based on either delusional  FANTASY  (A company you -as the artist- pay generates fake fans and wham! there you have: many many fantasy views and likes- anybody can get that done for them by a company...a dentist, an artist.....but what for? Exactly) or by  PERSUASION  (add me, like me).   But eitherway there's no real fans!   Few people really care beyond a "likes this" or an "add" BUT the artist spends hours in front of the computer begging for your attention- rather than making records which the artist has to pay for somehow!   THINK ABOUT THIS:   1.  Excessive Quantity of music (it's too much), no one can digest as much stuff as there is now. All the: "Check me out, Listen to my new single....Free music! Free downloads, Free free free!" Do you care?   2 . No because the Internet is mostly (and naturally) "ME-nternet". Unless it's about yourself OR someone already famous, it's really not that important AND YOU KNOW IT (not even girl/boyfriends read your tweets people and even if they do, how are you paying for your next record?)   3.  An "add" or "like" and especially a "comment" is very nice but it doesn't enable the artist to pay for the next recording. BUT buying their music is AND by buying the artists music, the artist will eventually be taken seriously! -> Then this internet and all that stuff is great, then- it works for everyone involved; but you really have to spend a little money on the people's art you like.   SO: BUY your music, as that is the only way of true support and nowadays you can directly SUPPORT the artist, thanks to digital distribution companies such as @Tunecore!   Get an iTunes gift card, make an account or buy the song(s) at Amazon, Napster, Rhapsody.....directly from the artist and pay by Paypal......whatever!    Just do it, and if you already are doing it, spread the word to those who aren't! THANK YOU   "Everyone wants music to be free but unfortunately creating it ain't!"  (Patrick Vega) ________________________________________________________________________________________ Now, since you scrolled down: Did you even read the above?

in the topic What playing style comes naturally to you? in the forum Gear Talk
I like playing all styles. I do tend to gravitate towards rock but I put latin, classical, blues, rock and folk songs on my first cd. So I like playing as many styles as I can. But rock is my first love

in the topic Quick Dent Fix for Guitars in the forum Gear Talk

Here's a trick I learned from Master Luthier Steve Klein (http://www.kleinguitars.com/kleinacousticguitars.htm) when I worked for him to remove small dents in your guitar.

1). Wet a paper towel really well with water.
2). Ring out the paper towl so there isn't any excess water
3). Heat up a saudering iron
4). Fold the paper towel to about 4 folds
5). Lay the paper towel on top of the dent
6). Place the saudering iron on the paper towel and hold for approximately 5 seconds.

Lift the saudering iron up and check the dent. Only place the iron there for no more than a 4-5 seconds at a time. What this does is infuses the water into the guitar and the heat expands the wood. Then the heat dries the wood. You will see the dent get smaller and smaller. In some instances I've used this to remove the dent completely. Works great on small dents but will also work good on larger ones as well.

    Hope this helps.

in the topic What makes the best Guitar??? in the forum Open Discussion

I would have to say it's the player that makes the best guitar. You could give a '59 Les Paul to a complete amateur and it will sound horrible. But give a Hondo electric to an experienced player and it will sound beautiful. It comes down to the player in my opinion.

With that said, I'm a Peavey Wolfgang devotee ;-)
And yes I have named these three. They are "Little Bastard", "Elvis" and "Sinatra"

@Rob - Yeah that would be embarrassing. I'm sure you handled it like a pro though.

@Troy - Did anyone notice? I heard a similiar story from Stu Hamm but it was intentional lol

in the topic Your most embarrassing moment on stage? in the forum Open Discussion

I'm not sure if this topic has been posted yet but if not I thought it would be a fun one to have.

My most embarrassing moment on stage was when a friend asked me to come up and do a guest spot with his band. His rhythm guitar player handed me his guitar. I put it on and proceeded to walk to the front of the stage. What he failed to tell me was that his guitar cable was only about 6 feet long (the lights were off on stage) and when I got about halfway out the entire top half of the full stack came crashing to the ground. The head and the top 4x12 made the loudest, most crushing sound. Luckily it was a solid state amp and it kept on working (once it was picked up and put back together).

    UPDATED EMBARRASSING MOMENT:

I totally forgot about this one. Maybe because I blocked it out lol

Let me preface this by saying that AC/DC is my all-time favorite band. I was onstage at The House of Blues in Hollywood, CA. and Cliff Willliams got onstage and we were to do "T.N.T.". So here I am on stage with the bass player of my favorite band and Cliff nudges me and says "let's do backup vocals". All I had to say was "oi, oi, oi". I walked up the microphone and forgot the lyrics lol. I never get starstruck. But this time was different. Also in the audience was Rudy Sarzo, Gene Simmons, Bruce Kulick, Ron Jeremy and a host of other celebrities. Luckiy Cliff was really cool and I recovered pretty well.

in the topic How can we help you get your music out there? in the forum How can we help you promote your music?

I really like Andy Mills idea of a featured artist section. There are a lot of fantastic musicians on here and giving them a featured artist spot for a day or a couple would be great I think.

in the topic Where are you man? in the forum Give a shout out where you are from?!

I'm from Silicon Valley. Home of Apple, Google, AOL, Yahoo and just about every other tech company you can think of. To say this town isn't music friendly would be an understatement lol. But it is close enough to everything so I guess it isn't that bad. I'd attach a photo but there really isn't much to see here lol

Thanks! Yeah I lease a warehouse that is also my recording studio and rehearsal studio. Definitely has enough room. Although it's starting to get a little cramped in there lol
