Hey, potatoes, tomatoes, what's good for you not necessarily is good for everybody. For those with a one track mind about brands & bla, bla, bla, the point here is to guide or help others find what "they need" this is not about you.All guitars & brands have something special & unique for everybody..If you found yours then good so be a "Musician, friend or mentor"  Weather you play in your garage or you do it for a living & be part of the solution, you might learn something new !!

To whoever gave my comment a thumbs down, you need to learn more about guitars my friend.

Have someone else play the different guitars while you stand back and listen to what your audience will hear. Brand name identification is all well and good, but how the instrument feels in your hands and how it sounds is what counts in the end. Avoid the fancy inlays that will add $$ to a guitar at the expense of quality.

The Brian C. Band I agree with you Pete. Get as much info before you step in a store.Don't rush & play them all. You'll know which is the "ONE".....Good luck..

Epiphone hands down. Fender and Epiphone are both great at making two things each. Fender = Basses and Electrics. Epiphone = Electrics and Acoustics. Epiphone is a brand by Gibson, and as we all know, Gibson makes some of the finest acoustics out there (Taylor, Martin, etc. are other great ones too) I have a Epiphone SG and modified Les Paul and they are two of my favorite guitars. Very nice workmanship, tone, and materials. I have noticed that Fender (not just Squier) will sometimes put their name on any cheap piece of shit guitar out there. Don't get me wrong, Fender is one of the best most of the time. I have also noticed that Gibson's quality level has went downhill bigtime also. I have played brand new Gibson's 2 or 3 times the price of my Epiphone and compared to most of em, my Epiphone would smoke them. But anyway's it seems at least to me that Epiphone can hold their own and with continue to make quality guitars at great prices. Even though they are made over seas.

Clear choice for me. Epiphone. My Epi EJ200 is the news. Just to give youan idea about me: The Epi sits in its case next to y $5600 Collings. The Epi is a very very good value. Im a strat guy as well, I love Fender, but Epi owns Fender is the cheaper accoustic arena.

I prefer fender but it really comes down to what feels better for you. Play both & then make "Your Decision" Good luck !!

Takamine makes a variety of hollowbody guitars. Even the cheapest six string, plays exceptionaly well !

Personally, i would go with Fender, but it is all about the sound of the guitar.  I suggest you go to a music shop and try both of them.   Have fun :)
